Dead For Real: Liquidation of Crane Cams Announced

Ah crap. Remember a while back we covered the story that Crane Cams was going under, only to report that they were planning on sticking around, and the reports of their death were premature? Well, seems like the initial reports were right, Crane Cams is dead. Dead, dead, dead.

Yeah, it’s only 280 people new to the job market (easy to say if you’re not one of the 280 though), and it had to be a hellish ride for them; Doc says I got cancer! Doc says I don’t got cancer!! Doc says I got 2 days to live!!! But still, the intimate effect on the people concerned is also reflected on what the gearhead community has lost: another well respected aftermarket supplier.

The official word comes from LiquiTec Industries (they say they are an Incorporated Asset Management & Disposition company, but that’s just another way of saying they’re the type of people that swing by the farm with the guys from the bank and help to sell off all of what used to be your stuff) that they have been contracted to liquidate all of the assets of Crane Cams. That included everything, lock, stock and tomahawk.

One could say, at this point, that you could swing by and pick up a bunch of parts cheap. Or another suggestion is that another, well set up aftermarket outfit, someone like Vic Edelbrock, could swoop in and pick up the whole shooting match and just carry on, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

LiquiTec Industries is dumping literally everything that Crane had, including all of its unsold products, machinery, raw materials, trademarks and patents. At the moment it’s a bid type deal, and after that, LiquiTec will go all farm auction on the unsold goods.

A few individuals might be able to scavenge a few juicy bits, but essentially Crane is a body on the desert floor that just had a few buzzards land next to it. By this time next year, they will be forgotten about except for older hot rodders.
